Chichibu created this blend using Pure Malt whiskies from the Hanyu distillery (closed in 2000), aged in ex-sherry casks and hogsheads, along with their own production aged in Japanese oak casks. It has a beautiful light amber color. The nose, very fruity, is a legacy of the Hanyu distillery’s aging process, with aromas of red fruits (raspberry, strawberry), mirabelle plum, cinnamon, and anise. The palate is quite firm with a fruit paste character, like a true red fruit jelly with quince, plum, and pear, enhanced by notes of orgeat and oat flakes. The very soft finish is a hallmark of Chichibu distillery’s production aged in Japanese oak casks.
