Situated just above “Champ gain”, on marl-limestone soil, the “La Garenne” vineyard enjoys an ideal south-easterly exposure. It takes its name from a “garenne”, which was once a wood surrounded by walls, owned by lords for hunting small game, and more specifically rabbits, hence the expression “lapin de garenne”. This wine, produced by Domaine Gilles Bouton et Fils, has a pale gold color with green highlights, and a fine, refined nose of white fruit and citrus, with hints of verbena and vanilla. The whole is enhanced by a light woodiness and a hint of gunflint. On the palate, this wine is full and powerful, with plenty of freshness and volume, as well as good tone. The finish is long and precise, with a touch of minerality.
Sufficiently taut and perfectly balanced, this wine will make it through the next decade without a hitch.
As summer sets in, the richness and minerality of this great wine will work wonders with “gambas à la plancha”.
