Founded around the year 1,150 by the Cistercian monks, the Clos-Vougeot covers 50 ha of vines in one piece and stands out for its geographical location, its history and especially its great wines. The Château de Marsannay is one of the many owners who share this prestigious enclosure. The wine obtained has been worked on elegance more than on power and offers a color of a magnificent deep garnet. Its refined and very sweet bouquet opens with a delicate scent of peony followed by very fruity aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant and gooseberry joined by some spicy notes. The palate is well structured with a beautiful material and a lot of persistence.
This Clos-Vougeot will need a good ten years to assert itself completely and thus demonstrate the true dimensions of its aromatic palette.
The nobility of this grand cru imposes rich and complex agreements. It is therefore natural to pair it with a tasty matured prime rib or a pigeon with full-bodied juice.
