Founded around 1150 by Cistercian monks, Clos-Vougeot covers 50 hectares of vines in a single block, and stands out for its geographical location, its history and, above all, its great wines. Domaine Henri Rebourseau is one of the many owners who share this prestigious vineyard. This cuvée vieilles vignes reveals the full complexity of this terroir. The resulting wine has been crafted with the greatest care and is a magnificent deep garnet color. Its refined, suave bouquet opens with a delicate scent of rose petals, followed by very fruity aromas of raspberry, blackberry and wild strawberry, joined by spicy notes of pepper and nutmeg. The palate is full-bodied and long-lasting.
This Clos-Vougeot will need a good fifteen years to reach its peak and become an incomparable example of exquisite pinot noir.
The nobility of this grand cru needs rich, complex pairings. So, it’s natural to pair it with a tasty mature rib-eye steak or a pigeon with a full-bodied jus. For cheeses, soft and washed-rind cheeses, of which Burgundy abounds with fine specimens.
