Jean-Luc Maldant is a winemaker from Chorey-lès-Beaune who has been selling empty Burgundy casks to the Scots for a very long time to age their whisky. He has finally decided to re-import aged whiskies in his casks, to market them under the Mac Malden brand.

For this highland single malt, he tried a new experience since the “black Malden” is aged in port cask and refined in sherry casks.

A nice dark coffee-coloured. Peat dominates on the nose as on the palate with notes of tar, mint spice and candied lemon. The finish is long and smoky, with hints of salted butter caramel and beeswax. The combination of peat and sherry casks gives a very interesting result.
