A complex, sweet, peaty and fruity vintage whisky
Located on the island of Islay, the Ardbeg distillery produces the most peaty single malt in Scotland.
Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2006. This is one of the rare vintage versions released by the distillery at that time. The cuvée owes its name to a Gaelic term meaning shelter or pasture. It is also the name of the river that connects the Loch Uigeadail to the distillery and allows its water supply.
Tasting :
The nose is complex with aromas of apricot, lemon, mint, camphor. The peat is present, oily, creamy, but delicate.
The palate, is very sweet dominated by lemon zest and camphor. The spices are very present with notes of pepper, nettle leaf and coriander. As expected, it is very smoky with oily peat, but also very salty. The finish is long on cold smoke, ashes, pepper and exotic fruits.
