An imperial white !
If the lands around Aloxe and Pernand are more suitable for the production of red wine, tradition dictates that very good whites are also made there. According to legend, Charlemagne would be at the origin of this use. The emperor had a vineyard on corton hill that provided him with his favorite beverage. However, over the years, the copious rasades of red wine that he granted himself left ever more visible spots on his whitening beard. His wife, considering that they did not suit his dignity as emperor, persuaded him to drink white. To please his wife and to continue tasting his favorite Corton, Charlemagne had part of the vineyard replanted with white grape vines. Its clos was given to the Collegiate Church of Saulieu in 775. The Mestre Père et Fils estate delivers us a wine of great finesse adorned with a brilliant color with pale gold reflections whose very delicate bouquet, expresses aromas of citrus, flowers, peach that evolve into notes of linden, almond paste, hazelnut and cinnamon. The palate is ample, slightly woody with a beautiful material and moderate acidity. The finish is long with subtle saline notes.
Tasting :
If its freshness can already give you a lot of pleasure, the next ten years will magnify it.
Pairings :
On its youth, it will sublimate a noble seafood like a blue lobster. With more maturity, a foie gras will make it irresistible.
